Scientific Games Announces Taiwan Lottery Deal

Scientific Games Corp. said on Tuesday it had signed an agreement to provide Taiwan lottery companies with instant games, licensed properties and marketing services.

The two-year contract, which could be extended for another two years, began in June but has just been announced. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

The Taiwan Lottery Company is an affiliate of the CTBC Financial Holding Company and operates Taiwan's public welfare lottery. Some of the money raised by the lottery is used to help disadvantaged groups on the island and replenish public welfare funds.

"Through the exciting licensed properties offered by Scientific Games, we hope to further engage and entertain players in Taiwan," Joy Huang, president of Taiwan Lottery Company, said in a statement.

Scientific Games, a lottery equipment and management company, said on Aug. 1 it will acquire fellow game equipment maker Bally Technologies Inc. in a $5.1 billion deal. The deal is currently expected to be completed in early 2015.
