Founded in 1970, the World Series of Poker has been running continuously since its inception, breaking records. To date, the WSOP has awarded winners more than $3.3 billion in prize money, providing unprecedented TV and media exposure. Given the ongoing shutdown of live tournaments due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the WSOP today announced a new online series to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Poker Action.

Currently running through Sunday, Sept. 27, the "50th Anniversary Series" online poker festival features 50 special themed tournaments, including a "groovy" freezeout, with no conventional re-entry at the beginning of the WSOP. The 50th Anniversary Series, which includes both a small-stakes player appreciation tournament and a larger number of "high rollers," aims to bring something exciting to all players by recreating the WSOP experience. A total of $3 million in prize money is guaranteed across 50 themed tournaments.

Every Wednesday during the festival, a $10,000 "Free Love Free Roll" will be offered to reward WSOP.COM players. Sunday will kick off an action highlighted by a $100,000 warranty tournament for just $50+5 on Sunday, Sept. 20, and a $505,050 grand warranty main event with a $555 purchase on Sunday, Sept. 27.

With WSOP Online's record-breaking success in July, with 44,229 entries and $26.9 million in total prize money, organizers are hoping to launch a fall campaign.
