Centuryent Cambodia VIP Room to Open in September
Hong Kong-listed Century Entertainment International Holdings expects to open in "early September" at two VIP rooms at its casino in Dara Sakor, Kokong province, Cambodia.
"With VIP rooms set to open in early September, the group is cautiously optimistic about its revenue contribution in its 12-month report from the second half of 2024 to March 31," it said in a release on Tuesday.
In May, Century Entertainment announced that one of its subsidiaries would operate two VIP rooms in Cambodia on a three-year contract.
The two rooms have a total floor area of about 650 square meters and have seven game tables, the company said.
Century Entertainment has the right to receive 100% of the winnings, will be responsible for the loss of the entire home, and will "pay for employee expenses and taxes related to that gaming business."
The casino belongs to a company called LongBay Entertainment Co., Ltd. and is located in the LongBay Century Hotel.
Century Entertainment said in its annual report that if the group eventually legalises casino gambling, it will "see beyond Cambodia" business opportunities, including Thailand.
"The group will closely monitor the situation in neighboring Thailand, where casino legalization plans are underway," the Hong Kong-listed company noted. "This presents a strong opportunity for geographic expansion, and the group will be well prepared to adjust its strategy accordingly to capture emerging market dynamics."
According to its annual report, Century Entertainment "has not recorded revenue for the years ended March 31, 2024 and 2023."
Net loss for the 12 months ended March 31 this year was about HK$24.2 million ($3.1 million), an improvement from a loss of HK$62.5 million a year earlier.
"The change in net losses is mainly due to the absence of amortisation/damage losses on intangible assets, and a reduction of about HK$15.4 million in impairment losses on accounts and other bonds," the company said.
