« Que le tableau « L’Approche éblouie » retrouve sa place à l’Hôtel-de-Ville ! »

Pétition adressée à l’attention du Grand Conseil du canton de Genève et du Conseil municipal la Ville de Genève  

Le Grand Conseil et le Conseil municipal siègent à l’Hôtel-de-Ville, récemment rénové. Durant les travaux, le tableau « L’Approche éblouie » de l’éminent peintre genevois Pierre Montant, a été mis à l’abri. Seulement voilà, ce tableau, dont la dimension a été conçue pour la salle des pas perdus n’a pas retrouvé sa place. Cela est d’autant plus regrettable que ce tableau montre ce que les Suisses ont vu en arrivant au Port Noir, débarquement qui symbolise l’entrée de Genève dans la Confédération, et qu’il a été offert à l’État de Genève par les cantons confédérés lors de la commémoration du 175ème anniversaire de l’entrée de la République et canton de Genève dans la Confédération lors d’une cérémonie d’inauguration.

Les pétitionnaires demandent que ce tableau puisse retrouver sa place d’origine, au siège du pouvoir genevois. Délaisser ce cadeau des cantons donateurs en le mettant dans un dépôt pourrait donner à penser que Genève veut afficher un désir d’une plus grande autonomie au sein de la Confédération. Pour dissiper tout éventuel malentendu, le tableau « L’Approche éblouie » doit retourner sans délai à son accrochage d’origine auquel il s’adapte au centimètre près avec la précision d’une montre suisse dans l’unité de ses composants à l’instar des cantons au sein de la Confédération.  

Nous pétitionnaires demandons que le tableau « L’Approche éblouie » retrouve sa place d’origine dans la salle des pas perdus du Grand Conseil et du Conseil municipal.

Petition addressed to the attention of the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva and the City Council of the City of Geneva

The Grand Council and the City Council meet at the recently renovated Hôtel-de-Ville. During the renovations, the painting “L’Approche éblouie” by the eminent Geneva painter Pierre Montant was placed in storage. But this painting, the size of which was designed for the “Salle des pas perdus,” has not found been returned to its place. This is all the more regrettable since this painting shows what the Swiss saw when they arrived at Port Noir, a landing which symbolizes Geneva's entry into the Confederation, and which was offered to the State of Geneva during an inauguration ceremony by the confederated cantons during the commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the entry of the Republic and Canton of Geneva into the Confederation.

The petitioners ask that this painting be returned to its original place, at the seat of power in Geneva. To abandon this gift from the donor cantons by putting it in storage could give the impression that Geneva wants to display a desire for greater autonomy within the Confederation. To dissipate any possible misunderstanding, the painting "L'Approche éblouie" must immediately return to its original place to which it is adapted to the nearest centimeter with the precision of a Swiss watch in the unity of its components as desired by  the cantons of the Confederation.

We petitioners request that the painting "L'Approche éblouie" return to its original place in the “Salle des pas perdus” of the Grand Council and the Municipal Council.
